Thursday Club for aged 70+. This is a nice way to meet other members of the community plus listening to a speaker, or taking part in a quiz or discussion followed by a delicious afternoon tea. Past topics for speakers have included The Life of Lionel Bart, Vienna in the 1930’s and Highgate Cemetery.
Thursday 14 July - "The life and times of Lionel Bart" Geoff Bowden gives an excellent , illustrated talk on the rollercoaster career of this multitalented composer.
Thursday 18 August - Herbie Goldwater will give a talk on "Gilbert and Sullivan - best of enemies"
Thursday 15 September- This month our speaker is Bernice Krantz, founder and Committee member of G2G (Generation to Generation) This organisation helps the children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors tell their family stories to a wide variety of audiences , thus ensuring these stories are passed on to future generations so they are not forgotten or denied. Bernice will explain the unique way in which this is done using modern technology.
