Clubs & Groups
PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME GROUPS DO NOT MEET DURING THE SUMMER. PLEASE CONTACT THE SYNAGOGUE OFFICE IN ADVANCE TO CHECK.
This is a social club for Synagogue senior citizens, who are often joined by our friends from Belmont Lodge. We meet regularly each month to hear a range of interesting speakers or enjoy a light-hearted quiz followed by tea and sandwiches. We make a small subscription for each session which goes towards an annual outing.
We are pleased to welcome new members who can be assured that they will be introduced all round and will no doubt find, or make further friends.
Rosh Chodesh Group
Meeting on or near to Rosh Chodesh, often in people’s homes, a friendly group of women of all ages and affiliations, coming together to study, chat and craft.
We offer Bridge sessions for a range of levels.
We hold a Learn to play Bridge – a Beginners Course on Monday mornings from 10.00am-12.00pm. For details of the next course please contact the office.
An Intermediate Group meets on a Wednesday afternoon, under the auspices of Radlett U3A. It runs from 1.30-4.30pm.
A Relaxed Group meets on a Thursday morning, under the auspices of Radlett U3A. It runs from 10.00am-1.00pm. Please contact the synagogue office for exact meeting dates.
A more experienced social Bridge Club meets on a Thursday evening from 8.00-10.00pm.
Watling Table Tennis Club
The back hall of the synagogue has been the home of the club since it started 14 years ago. We currently have about thirty members, some from our community and some from Orthodox and other Progressive Communities. Among our number we include an Emeritus Rabbi, so a good spread, though noticeable by a lack of youngsters. In fact, we have only two teenagers at present.
We are able to field four teams in the Watford Table Tennis League and we gain measureable success. The club is well-known in the Jewish table tennis fraternity, as there are few synagogue-based clubs around. Over the year
s, some of our players have participated in the Maccabi National Championships.
During the summer, which is the off-season, we run a few serious practice sessions. We welcome practised players, including yet-to-become-emeritus Rabbis.
