Death and Bereavement

Funerals are arranged through the Jewish Joint Burial Society. (Membership of RBRS includes membership of the JJBS.) Please see their website for further details including a list of Frequently Asked Questions.

The JJBS, in conjuction with the synagogue, arranges both burials (usually at Cheshunt) and cremations (usually at Hoop Lane, Golders Green).

Evening prayers are conducted as required during the shiva period (the 7 days after the funeral) in the family home. Prayerbooks and 'shiva chairs' are available for collection from the synagogue office.

Kaddish

Kaddish, the Aramaic prayer traditionally recited by the mourners is available here with transliteration (English letters) if you want to read it but are worried about not being able to read Hebrew confidently. pdf Kaddish
