Rabbi David Mitchell's Induction

Rabbi Dr Tony Bayfield, Rabbi David Mitchell, Rabbi Paul Freedman and Gill BurnThe induction ceremony of Rabbi David Mitchell took place on 13 September at Radlett and Bushey Reform Synagogue. At 29, Rabbi David is one of the youngest ministers in the Movement for Reform Judaism.

The ceremony was conducted by Rabbi Dr Tony Bayfield, head of the Movement for Reform Judaism and our principal Rabbi Paul Freedman. Synagogue chair Gill Burn said: "We are thrilled to officially appoint him to a rabbinical position. As one of the fastest growing reform communities, we need two ministers to meet the needs of our many members of all ages and David has already endeared himself to those with whom he has had dealings.”

Barry Hyman, synagogue vice president, said: “We began as a small community of 20 families in 1971, meeting in each others' houses and, due to the kindness of local Christian communities, in the United Reform Church Hall and Rosary Priory. Now we are one of the largest communities in the movement.”
