We welcome non-Jewish partners as “Friends” of Radlett & Bushey Reform Synagogue (RBRS). We particularly value Friends; many are closely involved in the Jewish upbringing of our younger members and support their partners in their Jewish life. A good number also undertake sterling work for our synagogue and we hope that if you choose to become a Friend you will take part in the various activities available to you.
You are welcome to attend any services, the regular Friday night and Saturday morning services, and the Festival and High Holyday services. Please join in with any of the prayers you feel are appropriate for you. Your partner may explain what is happening, but if you would like more guidance to follow the service, please ask. The person who greets you when you arrive is often a warden or council member and will be pleased to help you.
There are many social events for you to just enjoy or contribute to by helping with the organisation. Quizzes, dinners, films, concerts and rambles are some examples of what is usually going on.
Should you want to extend your knowledge of Judaism, there are various courses that you can attend and it is good to go together with your partner.
As a new Friend, you will be invited with the new members to a cheese and wine evening where you will meet the rabbis, council members and chairs of various committees, all of whom will be delighted to tell you more about RBRS and encourage you to feel part of the community. You will be able to keep in touch if you read our monthly magazine Shofar and receive our weekly email ReNew and of course talk to the people you meet at Synagogue.
If you have any questions, or would like further information now, please contact either Rabbi Paul Freedman or the Office.
