Royal Wedding Anniversary |

Our November meeting was a special one to celebrate the Queen and Prince Philip's Diamond Wedding Anniversary. It coincided with the annual nosh-up presented to us by Sheila Katan and her Lovely Ladies of the League of Jewish Women who this year made a sumptuous tea for us. What sandwiches! What pastries!! What 'etceteras', including beauteous platters of fresh fruit - very artistically presented.
We were entertained by the swinging music of Ronnie Goldberg, who played music from that era. They don't write 'em like that any more. Real foot-tapping stuff. Sheila and her girls dressed up as 'Nippies' and served us enthusiastically and professionally with this delicious tea, all adding to the fun.
As a thank you to the ladies, they were each presented with a little gift, as were we all, who had little packages of silver-covered chocolates tied up with what look like portions of the Queen's old necklace, but which were in fact decorative ties. We all went home full up and very happy!
We had a full house for this event, but are always happy to welcome new members of the senior citizen variety.
